Juniors Program Descriptions
U7/U8
Advancement: we seek to instill a fun setting to introduce more in-depth approaches to learning advanced skills. As we continue to build upon foundational techniques, we simultaneously strive to create a team environment. Players are learning essential soccer skills and why we use them in games, which establishes a better overall understanding of the sport.
There are two programs for this age group the WHU House League and the CMSA Grassroots League. Jersey, shorts and socks are provided and goalie academy sessions are available to all players. Here is a brief comparison of the two programs followed by the registration options.
PROGRAM COMPARISON
WHU Juniors House League
- 2 sessions/week
- Weeknight schedule only (Mon/Wed OR Tues/Thurs)
- 6:30 – 7:30 pm
- Local westside area fields
- Sessions are half practice, half 4v4 or 5v5 game vs other WHU teams
- Club staff guide all sessions, volunteer parent coach positions needed for each roster
- Season runs May 1st – June 22nd
- WHU wrap-up party at end of season (late June)
CMSA Grassroots League
- 2 sessions/week
- Weeknight practices
- CMSA-scheduled Match Days on Saturdays @ Bishop Carroll school fields
- (3) 20 min matches per Match Day vs other SW teams
- U7=3v3, U8=4v4
- Club-designated head coach for each team, volunteer parent coach and manager also needed for each roster
- Season runs May 6th to Jun 24th (with optional Aug 26th – Sept 23rd)
- WHU wrap-up party at end of June and CMSA rally late June (spring) or September (summer)
REGISTRATION OPTIONS
Players may join both WHU and CMSA leagues if they would like to. (If joining both please choose the Tues/Thur WHU Juniors option)
