Program
The Westhills Minis and Juniors program is ages U3-U8, with the FUNdamental focus on a high-energy and positive learning environment for your young ones.
U3/U4
Foundation: this is where many players have their first interactions with a soccer ball. We play fun games with and without the soccer ball to create an enjoyable environment for your young one to start learning simple techniques, including ball control, stopping the ball, changing direction, and much more! The session is comprised of a 10 minute warmup, followed by 30-40 minutes of learning games, and usually an introductory soccer game for the last 10 minutes.
U5/U6
Progression: where we as coaches reiterate or introduce those foundational skills learned in the U3/U4 level. Upon learning these skills, we seek to build upon them in a fun way, exploring areas such as passing, shooting, and more. This is done by games which encourages development on and off the ball. The session is comprised of a 10 minute warmup, followed by games and drills for 30 minutes, and the last 15 or 20 minutes we play a real soccer game with the skills we are learning!
U7/U8
Advancement: we seek to instill a fun setting to introduce more in-depth approaches to learning advanced skills. As we continue to build upon foundational techniques, we simultaneously strive to create a team environment. Players are learning essential soccer skills and why we use them in games, which establishes a better overall understanding of the sport.
Jersey, shorts and socks are provided and goalie academy sessions are available for players U7+. Options are below, and players may register in more than one session.
